Royal Family News: Author Slams Prince Harry’s Idea That Royals Were Jealous Of Meghan Markle

Editorial credit: AU Media / Shutterstock.comRoyal Family news reveals that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were both seen as bullies by royal staff and the idea that royals were jealous of Meghan Markle is “risible,” at least to one royal biographer. Read on and we’ll give you the low down.

Royal Family News – Accusations that Left Meghan Markle in Tears

Royal Family news reveals that in his new book “Courtiers” Valentine Low addresses the breakdown in the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their royal staff (via Newsweek). Royal watchers will recall that those same staff accused Markle of bullying in the now famous internal email sent by Kensington Palace Communications Secretary Jason Knauf in late 2018.

Even though Meghan denied the allegations, the message was still leaked to Low just a few days before the Sussex’s explosive Oprah Winfrey interview in March 2021. At the time, Harry said that the allegations left Meghan crying into her pillow.

Meghan Markle’s – Behavior On Tour Increases Royal Tension

The allegations served to contrast the reasoning behind the Sussex’s royal exit and, according to Low, there are “linked threads” between the two opposing accounts. According to Insider, Harry, in his interview with Oprah, described King Charles III, Prince William, and Kate Middleton as “really welcoming” but added that “it really changed” following an October 2018 tour of Australia, when they were shown “how incredible she is at the job.”

Low explained in “Courtiers” that royal staff members were screamed at and reduced to tears by Markle on that same tour. “I think what happened on the tour did not improve relations within the institution in general, their treatment of staff on tour,” Low said.

He added, “The idea that the rest of the royal family were jealous of their success in Australia strikes me as risible.” Newsweek reportedly approached the Duke and Duchess’ representatives for comment to no avail.

He Said, She Said

Knauf’s email alleged that Markle had bullied two PAs out of the royal household. The email was then forwarded to Prince William’s then-private secretary, Simon Case, after the Sussexes returned to Britain in October 2018. Royal watchers may recall that Valentine Low was a Royal correspondent for the UK newspaper The Times which was the first to publish extracts of that accusatory email in the days leading up to Harry and Meghan’s bombshell Oprah interview.

In November of the same year, veteran royal writer Camilla Tominey’s now-infamous story appeared in The Daily Telegraph. In it she wrote, via an anonymous source, Meghan had made Kate cry at a bridesmaid dress fitting shortly before the Sussex’s wedding day in May 2018.

Low wrote, “I think there are linked threads, obviously the fact that the bullying allegation was made, that it went to Simon Case, that it went to HR, that it went back to Harry—that didn’t improve the Sussexes’ relations with the rest of the institution. I think that also Camilla Tominey’s reporting of the ‘tears’ incident was November, so that sparked off a long-running thing, Meghan’s resentment that this was never corrected.”
