Meghan Markle is not holding back on her true feelings about her sister’s attempt to pull a fast one on her. There are new reports that say the Duchess of Sussex is not amused with her estranged sister Samantha Markle’s lawsuit against her. Samantha is suing the duchess for defamation over some of the things that Meghan said during her interview with Oprah Winfrey last year. However, Meghan believes that the defamation suit is “meritless.” Here’s what you need to know.

According to new reports, Meghan’s team of lawyers is not fooling around. They asked a court to adjudicate some of the statements that Samantha previously made that suggested the two were close while growing up. Meghan also wants to make it pretty clear that they’ve only crossed paths a few times during their adult years.

“We do not empanel juries to rule on whether two people are ‘close,’ or whether one genuinely feels that they ‘grew up as an only child,'” the court documents stated. “Courts are not equipped to adjudicate the legitimacy of a person’s feelings about their childhood and relationships. Nor should they be.”

What’s more, Meghan’s team of lawyers argued that the defamation complaint “does not state a claim for defamation or injurious falsehood.”

What’s Next For Meghan Markle?

This all comes after Samantha insisted that Meghan’s “rags to royalty” storyline is field with nothing but falsehoods. However, Meghan told Oprah during her bombshell of an interview back in March 2021 that she and Samantha were never close and that they had only seen each other a handful of times while Meghan was growing up. What’s more, the duchess also claimed that she felt like a single child when she was younger, further suggesting that Samantha was in no way a part of her life. That, and Meghan also suggested that Samantha only changed her last name back to Markle in her mid-50’s because of her association with Meghan and the royal family.

So far Samantha Markle herself has not made any additional comments about the matter.
