Meghan Markle’s Coat Of Arms Revealed

Meghan Markle’s new coat of arms has just been revealed. The Duchess of Sussex, who married Prince Harry in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle last week, was given a design that represents her personal background.

Kensington Palace released a statement that said, “The blue background of the shield represents the Pacific Ocean off the California coast, while the two golden rays across the shield are symbolic of the sunshine of The Duchess’s home state. The three quills represent communication and the power of words.”

Although it has been pointed out that the arms do break royal tradition as they do not represent Meghan’s side of the family.

Speaking about the design, Thomas Woodcock, who is the Garter King of Arms in England, told Hello! Magazine, “The Duchess of Sussex took a great interest in the design. Good heraldic design is nearly always simple and the Arms of The Duchess of Sussex stand well beside the historic beauty of the quartered British Royal Arms.”

Meanwhile, Meghan’s estranged sister Samantha Markle blasted the royal family just last week for not giving their father Thomas Markle Sr. his own coat of arms. Kate Middleton’s father Michael Middleton was given a coat of arms right before the royal wedding back in 2011. Thomas did not attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last week in Windsor Castle due to health problems. Still, Samantha said that he would have received a coat of arms regardless of his absence at the wedding. She said that it was shameful that the royal family failed to show any respect towards Meghan’s father by not involving him in the long-standing tradition.
