British royal family news shows that the blockbuster book “Revenge” by Tom Bower is all kinds of fire, the better to illuminate the creaks and cracks of Harry and Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Excess. In other words this is the book that could put the thirsty pair back where they belong, which is not on Oprah’s Winfrey’s couch, not in politics and certainly not at the UN lecturing under the influence of ignorance to an empty audience.
Royal Family News: The Markle’s Had High Hopes Based on Vanity
Few have interpreted the book about the Markle’s, and its far reaching implications, better than Maureen Callahan: “Two very broken people stoking each other’s rage, grievances and delusions of grandeur, believing in their unstoppable rise even as they fall ever downward. What other modern-day couple would wear their expulsion from the British royal family so dementedly, like a badge of honor, while clinging to their royal titles?”
Along the way the reasons behind their modern day fable-tale are laid bare.
Royal Family News: The Markle’s and Their Disgruntlement
First off, Princess Pinocchio was at it at a young age. The book describes her as a “fabricator” who claimed to have been an eyewitness to the Rodney King riots. Not so says her dad, who rushed her off to luxe, “Palm Springs on Day One of the riots.” Oopsie.
Callahan notes that, “Markle — whose motto, it can never be said enough, is ‘Be kind’ — the higher she climbs, the worse she treats others. It’s like she has imposter syndrome: Lacking talent, charm, intelligence or class, her only way up through marriage, Meghan lashes out at the very people paid to make her life easier, better, happier.”
For defenders of the realm who think this is mean girl talk there are examples. Markle apparently dreamed of becoming, “the face of L’Oreal,” and when the best she got was, “spokesmodeling for a midlevel Canadian clothing chain,” she became a diva monster who threw a tantrum in a comped hotel deemed beneath her: “Ignoring the flower displays, bottles of her favorite wine and a special calligraphy pen laid out on the tables, she criticized the hotel’s Tempur-Pedic bathrobe and slippers. She wanted Dior. The tea was the wrong blend and the vegan green juice was warm.” Horror of horrors, tepid greenies.
Royal Family News: Meghan Was A “Fabricator”
And what kind of person is attracted to this type of individual? As Callahan notes, Bower writes that Harry’s trauma was stoked by, “the death of his mother, his rage compounded by ranking as the royal spare. Harry’s grief and anger manifested in substance abuse, depression, the destruction of fellow students’ property, and his poor treatment of girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas. He lacked class, was unromantic, unserious, short-tempered and imperious.”
Add to that unattractive portrait a description of Harry as dim, passing his classes at Eton, “a D student at best.”

Royal Family News: Meghan’s Diva Fits
The Markle’s married in 2018 and along the way they found their stride in acting like clowns: Meghan blowing a simple Vanity Fair interview by vowing her love for Harry pre-engagement, Serena Williams disputing Meghan’s claims that they were besties, Princess Diana’s sisters telling Harry that Meghan was nothing like his mother. It gets better: Harry and Meghan excluding their friends from the wedding reception but inviting total strangers Oprah and the Clooneys, their joint hissy fit at the Jubilee after being denied Netflix-worthy footage.
Callahan is spot on in her assessment that the book, “ratifies the world’s growing disregard for these two hypocrites, so divorced from reality that they surely believe their Netflix reality show — excuse me, docuseries — will elevate their brand rather than reveal it for the cynical, resentful, grasping entity it truly is.”
And don’t forget, everyone: Be kind!
