One doesn’t earn the name ‘Duchess Difficult’ for nothing. According to a new report, which seems to echo the sentiments of past allegations, Meghan and Prince Harry were nothing short of terrible to work for.
Meghan Markle “Terrified” Employees
New employee bullying claims against Meghan and Harry have resurfaced during their time in the palace. In a Hollywood Reporter article, the Duchess was described as “terrifying” by an unnamed source.
The source noted that, ‘everyone’ was ‘terrified’ of the Duchess, in the article that took a closer look at the high-turnover rate for the couple during their time at Sussex.
The source went on to say that Meghan ‘belittles’ people and, “doesn’t take advice.” The source also stated, “They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person — no airs at all — but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”
While the sources are unknown, these allegations bare resemblance to past claims that Meghan bullied two PAs out of Kensington Palace.
Valentine Low, author of “Courtiers” was behind the original story and told Newsweek recently that the Hollywood Reporter claims offer “glaring” and “fascinating” ‘echoes’ of everything he wrote, and others have written before, about Meghan. He adds that that the report seems to indicate a pattern that Meghan is a difficult or ‘demanding’ boss.
He notes that Meghan clearly has standards; however, on the other side, the demands she makes might not always be possible.
The Infamous 2018 Kensington Palace Emails
For those that may recall, internal emails from 2018, written by Kensington Palace press secretary Jason Knauf outlined employee bullying from Meghan.
Low published them through The Times days before the Duchess and the Prince’s Oprah Winfrey interview, which aired in 2021. Low no longer works for the newspaper.
The email from Knauf noted: “I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X [name removed] was totally unacceptable.
The Duchess seems intent on always having someone in her sights. She is bullying Y [name removed] and seeking to undermine her confidence. We have had report after report from people who have witnessed unacceptable behavior towards Y [name removed].”
Harry and Meghan’s camp fluffed off the 2018 claims as a ‘smear campaign’, with Markle’s lawyer noting in a BBC documentary later that the allegations were “just not true”.
