The example comes courtesy of an anecdote told by Ann Gripper on Pod Save the Queen. According to her, Andrew was in the Navy when he acted up and she said, “The military can put people in their place quite nicely, or at least attempt to!”
Prince Andrew Was In The Navy When Someone Decided Not To Take His Guff
According to Gripper, Andrew was on his very first tour of an aircraft carrier when he introduced himself to the Captain, by saying, “Hi, I’m Prince Andrew, but you can call me Andrew.”
Not used to such informality, the Captain reportedly barked back, “You can call me Sir.”
Gripper was interviewing Nigel Cawthorne, author of the book, Prince Andrew: Epstein and the Palace when she told the story.
Of Andrew’s military career, Cawthorne said, “Well, again, his colleagues found him rather arrogant, but he did go to the Falklands War and put his life on the line, so one must give him credit for that.”
But Gripper retorted that Andrew’s military career has always been brought up as evidence that he is, “not entirely a bad person.” Snap!
He added, “One of the things that I find mysterious is that even when he retired from active duty, he goes on getting promotions ‒ he’s a Vice Admiral now!”
How Did Prince Andrew Become A Vice Admiral?
“I don’t know when he was last on a ship,” said Cawthorne, “but I guess if you’re in the Royal Family you keep getting more and more titles and more and more uniforms and more and more medals. It’s very puzzling for us common people.”
Andrew himself brought up his military career during what some consider to be the middle of the end for his public duty life. That would be the infamous November 2019 BBC interview with Emily Maitlis. He was trying to clear up his reported involvement with dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein when he made the bizarre claim that he does not sweat, something that is a result of his time serving in the Falklands.]
He made this odd claim as a way of disputing allegations that he had sex with underage Virginia Roberts when she reported a trafficking victim of Epstein.
Andrew has been intensely scrutinized in the public eye for his friendship with the disgraced convict, and the FBI have said they want to speak to him about his alleged involvement in Epstein’s activities.
