Prince George Will Make Royal Family History At King Charles’ Coronation

Royal family news reveals that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son Prince George will make history in May. And the 9-year-old will do so at his grandfather King Charles’ coronation. As a result, the little boy and his parents feel proud about an event that will one day appear in history books.

Prince George Set For History-Making Event

King Charles will watch proudly as his grandson Prince George takes on a special role at his coronation. And in doing so, George will achieve a historic first. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 9-year-old son will serve as a Page of Honor at the crowning ceremony.

As second in line to the throne, George will become the first future monarch to take on a role in the coronation. And he also will make history in ranking as the youngest future king to accept an official coronation role, reported People.

“Bringing George in also sends all the right symbolism for the future and gives him something he will always remember,” royal author Hugo Vickers noted. As for past such situations? When Queen Elizabeth participated in her coronation in 1953, King Charles was 4. But he only observed the part of the festivities in which she received her crown. George’s father became heir to the throne after the passing of Queen Elizabeth and accession of King Charles.

Royal Family, Not Aristocrats, Take On Coronation Roles

Prince George will number among King Charles’ four pages. And Queen Camilla will receive support from her three grandsons and great-nephew. The Pages of Honor will participate in the procession through the Nave of Westminster Abbey. And royal expert Vickers praised the “lovely idea to involve their own family members in these roles.” By choosing family “rather than aristocrats’ sons and daughters,” Charles and Camilla strengthened family bonds, noted Vickers.

Prince William and Kate Middleton debated about allowing their son Prince George to participate in the coronation. Because they appreciated the honor, they decided that their son could manage the pressure. And a spokesperson described the couple as “very excited about Prince George’s role in the coronation.” Kate and William want George to enjoy the “incredibly special moment.” And after considering the pros and cons, George’s parents “very much look forward to” the coronation, added the spokesperson.
