British royal family news shows that Prince Harry is allegedly in denial over the backlash against him accepting ESPN’s Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2024 ESPYs.

Petitions calling for his refusal of the July 11 award are not sitting well with the Duke, and he has ignored Tillman’s mother’s pleas.

Let’s get one thing straight: if Harry’s mother Princess Diana were treated the way he is treating Mary Tillman, he would demand their head. Then again, Harry never was the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

But ESPN has the Markle family buddy Serena Williams hosting the ESPY’s this year, which has nothing at all to do with Harry receiving a high-profile award. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Except that no one except Harry and his wife Meghan Markle think he deserves an award named for a US military hero.

Pat Tillman’s own mother, Mary Tillman, blasted tone-deaf ESPN and said she was never consulted about a failed UK prince receiving an American award for distinguished service.

And yet Harry has managed to make himself the victim again. According to the New York Post, a source claims the backlash is a “bitter pill to swallow” for Harry and Meghan.

Believe it or not, ESPN defends its decision to honor Harry, saying his work with the Invictus Games “is a cause worth celebrating.”

The outlet notes that the prestigious award is given to those “who have made significant contributions in the world, which echo the legacy of the former NFL player and US Army Ranger, who enlisted after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.”

Tillman gave up his lucrative NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan where he was killed by friendly fire in 2004.

In January he received the Living Legends of Aviation award, because he’s in the same class as Amelia Earhart and Johnn Glenn. Poor John Travolta, an actual pilot, had to hand the UK dufus the award he didn’t deserve.

It remains to be seen who has the honor of awarding Harry on Thursday night, maybe Serena herself if no one else is willing to be mocked?

The decision to give Harry, a non-legend and non-pilot, the aviation award was “was later slammed by Admiral Lord West, former head of the Royal Navy, who simply said that Harry is not a living legend.” He won’t be a dead one either.

According to the outlet “The Sussexes have since been accused of collecting trophies to buy the public’s respect.”
