Prince Harry had a birthday this week and Meghan Markle recently had hers, and in honor of themselves, they made a $130,000 donation to an African girls’ education charity. What better way to remind the world of how special one is?
They donated the money to CAMFED a group that supports girls’ education. They did so yesterday after the Sussex Squad, a group of their fans, held a fundraiser in honor of Harry and Meghan’s birthdays on September 15 and August 4, respectively.
When that campaign raised $129,000, Harry and Meghan matched the funds with a $130,000 contribution.
The money raised from the Sussex Squad Birthday Fundraiser 2020 will go toward higher education scholarships for young women in Africa.
Harry And Meghan Recently Celebrated Their Birthdays
CAMFED is a partner of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, the same group Harry and Meghan badmouthed on one video call and then seemed to be remorseful about, but not quite apologize for, on another video call.
Harry visited a CAMFED project in Zambia in 2018 and visited the group in Malawi in 2019. For her part, Meghan met one of the regional leaders of CAMFED at a Women’s Day event in London in 2019.
The charity tweeted a statement by the couple who said, “No better way to celebrate what really matters. Thank you to everyone who donated, Harry and Meghan.”
Harry Had A Low Key 2020 Birthday In America
Harry and Meghan were said to have celebrated Harry’s birthday privately yesterday at their new digs in Montecito. His family shared their well-wishes on Instagram and Twitter.
In honor of Harry’s birthday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles, and the Queen all posted well-wishes and throwback pics.
William and Kate’s photo shows them and Harry competing in a 2017 race. Meghan was not in the photo but it is common for royal family members not to include husbands and wives in birthday photos. Just another one of the many tangled rules and protocols of the royal family!
The picture is sweet in light of the fact that royal watcher Omid Scobie claimed the brothers did not speak for two months after Megxit was dropped like a lead balloon.
Scobie has said that Harry is, “very content,” with his marriage and family and “thriving” in his professional life.
Other royal experts chimed in that Harry is, “happier than ever,” on the occasion of his birthday and, “doesn’t miss his old life at all.”
