Royals news reveals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have filed to register a trademark for their new charity. Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was announced earlier this year and it seems they are getting ready to make everything official.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Charity
The Royal Foundation was founded in 2009 by William and Harry. After marrying, Kate joined the organization. Then, Meghan was added as patron following her marriage. The Royal Foundation was then renamed to The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. \
The split was announced by the palace in June, with a statement saying: “Later this year The Royal Foundation will become the principal charitable and philanthropic vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge… best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles, and to better align their charitable activity with their new households.”
From here on out, the charity will be known as The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s New Charity
On June 20, Harry and Meghan officially separated from the joint charity they shared with William and Kate. Just one day later, they filed to register a trademark for their new charity. However, the filing was not published until last week.
Then in July, Harry and Meghan announced their new charity, Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Trademark Registration Filed
Not much has been released about the new charity. According to People magazine, the trademark application refers to various items, which include fundraising, clothing, social care services, education and booklets. What this means is that they can sell items and they can also sue anyone who uses their logo, trademark or charity name without their prior approval. It is a way to protect the foundation, its patrons and the people who donate or benefit from its proceeds.
More information should become available in the next few months as the Royal Family prepares for some exciting announcements for 2020.
