There’s a reason William doesn’t want to get back together with his only brother Harry, and it isn’t just because he knows how to hold a grudge.
According to Pauline Maclaran, a Professor at Royal Holloway, University of London, William is also actively protecting the monarchy from a couple who he knows seeks to monetize it for their own ends.

According to reports, and frankly what we’ve seen Harry say so far recently, it is the Duke of Sussex’s mission to return as a working royal. He’s actually talked about this in ways that feel like he’s trying to manifest it. Remember “royal on tour” and “Prince of England” declarations?
I honestly feel like Harry is eating his words in real time and probably thinks we’re too dumb to notice. What happened to the Monarchy being a “trap?”
What happened to him feeling sorry for his father and brother because they are“trapped?” Or does it only become a trap when he’s not involved?

Well, as much as Harry may want to snivel his way back into the arms of the Monarchy he once very loudly rejected, he has William to get through.
According to professor Maclaran, who is also the co-author of the royal biography ‘royal fever,’ William doesn’t want Harry sashaying back into the Monarchy for two main reasons.
“William probably feels he is protecting the monarchy from being further disrespected or monetized by the couple for their own ends,” said Maclaran. “However, there are bound to be personal issues too and a lack of trust in his brother.”
“William, being the brother who has to shoulder the future responsibility of the monarchy, is understandably alleged to still be very angry with his younger sibling,” Maclaran said. “Particularly after all the revelations that have been made by Harry and Meghan over the years, but especially the Oprah interview and Spare.”
However, the nail in Harry’s coffin is that his charades just had to touch Princess Kate, and that’s simply not something William can easily get past. “These accusations also implicated Catherine in various ways and I imagine that William finds that very hard to overlook,” the professor noted.
