Prince Harry & Meghan Face Fresh Questions After Conflicting Briefings?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK recently, but rumors suggest the trip didn’t exactly deliver a cozy family reunion.

Reports claim their time with King Charles and Queen Camilla wasn’t warm. Royal commentators say the couple’s carefully managed public image may be showing cracks.

Different Versions Emerge

Sky News Australia host Danica De Giorgio noted that “briefings from Harry’s camp are differing from the briefings from Megan’s camp.” That’s a change. For years, the pair presented a united front to the world.

The messaging coming from Meghan’s camp appears to differ from Harry’s, according to the commentators.

According to a report in People, Meghan “has always let Harry take the lead with his family.”

Harry’s side tells a different story. Daily Mail writer Alison Boshoff quoted a source who claims that when Harry “was madly in love,” he let Meghan call the shots. Now, according to that same source, “the veil has been lifted.”

Danica argued that the past-tense wording fueled speculation about whether the couple remains united, when discussing the various news items with Maureen Callahan. 

Money Troubles and Legal Bills

The Nerve host Maureen Callahan thinks the couple is running out of options. She pointed out that they are essentially “a media brand” that relies on public attention.

But their commercial projects haven’t paid off the way they hoped. De Giorgio even called their business ventures a “diabolical disaster.”

The cash flow looks tight. Harry lost his big court battle against the publisher of the Daily Mail. Callahan said that Prince Harry and his group face roughly “$67 million US in their own legal fees,” not to mention whatever they end up owing the publisher.

Add in a mortgage on a $14 million Montecito house and an estimated “$4 to 5 million a year” for private security. Callahan argued that the mounting legal costs and ongoing expenses could place increasing pressure on the couple’s finances.

Is There a Way Back for Harry?

Callahan said, “when you see a high-profile married couple with who are working with stakes this high, the new question is, does Harry really have a way back in?”

Callahan said the reporting out of King Charles’ office has long suggested “there could perhaps be a way back for Harry. But it would be without Meghan.”

It seems unlikely Meghan Markle would ever move back. Callahan noted “she is so loathed there” and their approval ratings sit “in the toilet.”

Prince William reportedly wants nothing to do with his brother, viewing any peace offering as a “selfish cynical ploy to save his own skin.”

Montecito Is Isolating

Callahan and De Giorgio argued that life in Montecito has left Harry increasingly isolated compared with his former role within the Royal Family.
