Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly faced a sudden problem with their family routine this week, leading to a quick change of plans for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Read on for more details.

Changing Schools

Multiple outlets reported that Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, were pulled out of their new UK school after just two days because of security concerns with the commute.

The couple’s spokesperson said that the decision followed “a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.”

According to The Standard, bodyguards described the original protection vehicles as effectively “sitting ducks” when heavy traffic left them stationary.

A source explained the decision, clarifying that “this decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

Moving Back To The UK

The family returned to live in the UK last month after six years in California, with the kids starting at a local school as the new term began. However, the school was at least a 30-minute drive away, and daily school traffic doubled that commute time.

The Telegraph noted that bodyguards checked out the school grounds over the summer, but they couldn’t properly test the drive until actual traffic hit on the first day.

On one trip, protection cars couldn’t hold their formation as a convoy. Running a security convoy through school drop-off traffic sounds like a nightmare anyway.

A New School

By Monday, the children attended a taster session at a school closer to their home. ABC News reported that Prince Harry was spotted settling Lilibet into her reception class. Both parents are reportedly already added to the new school’s WhatsApp group chat.

GB News reported on how quickly Prince Harry and Meghan Markle acted to change schools right at the start of term. Sources close to the Sussexes stressed that the school itself wasn’t the problem, but the security concerns prompted a quick change of plans.

Security Problems

The school run ties right back into Harry’s ongoing fight over UK police protection. A friend of the couple called the daily school run “absolutely the biggest area of concern.”

Harry and Meghan’s security arrangements are currently undergoing a fresh government review.

While moving countries might be a big step, moving schools in a single week was probably not something they anticipated.

Another person expressed their opinion, writing, “Just another ploy in them using those … kids as pawns in their pathetic attempt to grift paid for security from the British taxpayers scheme.”
