As the anticipated Australian trip shows a lack of interest in booking seats for the mental health seminar this week, the news that Sentebale strikes back can’t be a happy time for Prince William’s younger brother.

Most royal family fans know that Prince Harry founded the Sentebale charity in memory of his mom, Princess Diana. However, it all became rather toxic in time, and now the charity launched a defamation lawsuit against him.

What’s that about? Well, apparently, Harry’s accused of leading a smear campaign that damaged the reputation of the organization.

The Bitter Fallout

On TalkTV on YouTube this Sunday, Rupert Bell described the High Court battle as a “royal bombshell.” That’s because it centers on claims that Harry and a former trustee, Mark Dyer, tried undermining the charity.

Apparently, the Sentebale charity claims negative headlines fueled by the Duke of Sussex made it difficult for them to secure donors and continue their work.

Time For Action, Less Talk?

Critics argue that the legal step does away with continuous bickering, and “restores honor.” Royal correspondent Rupert Bell suggested that the breakdown of trust is total. Notably, he remarked that “the intentions of Sentebale were more than honorable.” However, the relationship between Prince Harry and the board completely collapsed.

Plus, it seems interesting that the charity isn’t using any of the donations from the public to fund their lawsuit.

Back in 2006, long before things went south with Harry and public opinion, the Sentebale charity seemed like a wonderful idea. After all, the charity was going to help kids in Lesotho and Botswana.

Unfortunately, in time, arguments arose over how the charity was managed, and last year, Harry stepped away from it all. Of course, it was big news, and allegedly during his departure and various interviews, the charity claims he started a “damaging media campaign” that crossed the line into defamation.

During the discussion on TalkTV, questions arrived about the influence that Meghan Markle might have had on Harry’s charitable fights. Some commentators believe her desire for the spotlight added to the friction.

Bell noted that “the hand of Meghan is over everything” and suggested that her involvement may have complicated Harry’s professional relationships. Of course, the Sentebale news brings yet another “PR hot mess.”
