Prince Harry Attends An Event For One Of His Patronages
Prince Harry made a surprise attendance at the WellChild’s Awards ceremony held at London’s Kew Gardens on June 30. Before greeting the winners of the award, he spoke with friend and fellow parent Ed Sheeran about fatherhood.
“Congratulations, a girl right?” the multi-award winning singer/songwriter Sheeran asked the Duke of Sussex. “We just had a little girl ten months ago now. You’re still in the trenches now! How do you manage with two?”
Ed Sheeran married his childhood friend and secondary school classmate, Cherry Seaborn, after being in a relationship with her since July 2015. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Lyra, late last year.
“Two is definitely a juggle,” Harry replied. He and wife Meghan welcomed their first daughter Lilibet on June 4th. Prior to Lilibet’s arrival, the couple share 2-year-old Archie.
“We’ve been lucky so far, she’s very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie is running around like crazy,” Harry later added.
Harry has been the patron of WellChild since 2007. He and Meghan Markle attended the awards ceremony in 2019. The event, which honors children and the healthcare workers that care for them, was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Wellchild’s website, the organization is “the national UK children’s charity making it possible for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital.”
Prince Harry’s Work With WellChild
“Today our Patron The Duke of Sussex met 2021 WellChild Award winners at a garden party @kewgardens. The #WellChildAwards, in association with @gsk, looked different this year as we ensured attendees remained safe in line with #COVID guidelines,” the organization shared via their social media channels.

Prince Harry spoke at the Awards Ceremony, speaking on the importance of supporting children and families. “Since becoming patron of WellChild in 2007, this organization and the people within it have held an extraordinarily special place in my heart.”
“I wasn’t a father at the time, and yet the stories of these children and parents transcended that. I didn’t need to be a dad to feel the impact of this invaluable work. Now as a father of two, I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild.”
Prince Harry, who arrived in England on June 25, joined his brother Prince William at the unveiling of Princess Diana’s Statue. Check back here for more Royal Family news and updates.
