Prince Harry Tried To Pull Plug On “Spare”

There’s something about being offered millions of dollars to sell your family drama, collecting said millions, and then having cold feet enough to want to back out of the deal, that’s just not right. Prince Harry dear, millions don’t grow on trees. You take the cash, you deliver. It’s that simple.

Prince Harry’s Platinum Jubilee Visit Made Him Have Second Thoughts About Publishing Controversial Memoir

According to a US publishing source, Harry tried to cancel the publication of his ghostwritten memoir when he traveled back to the UK in June 2022 to take part in the grand festivities celebrating the Queen’s long life of service.

One of the speculations as to the reason he’s canceling the memoir was that he likely experienced cold feet after meeting his family and knowing what he’s written about them in his intimate and “wholly truthful” memoir.

“He’s pulled it. He doesn’t want to do it,” the team working on “Spare” was allegedly told at around that time. It was a hard pill for them to swallow, especially after Penguin Random House advertised it as an indepth and groundbreaking look into one of our time’s most recognizable figures.

According to publishing sources, no reason was given at the time to explain why work on the memoir had to stop.

Sources Say the Queen’s Death Made It Possible For Harry To Proceed With the Publication Of His Memoir

Another reason that was given regarding Harry’s choice to halt his memoir plans was that he received an ultimatum from his family on not publishing his “vindictive” memoir when the Queen was alive.

However, when the Queen died on September 8, it gave him the go-ahead to proceed with his memoir. The halting did cause some delays in the publication of the book, because, instead of arriving late 2022 as previously announced, it’s now arriving early 2023.

In retrospect, Harry is not the only royal to go rogue and publish a memoir, as the abdicated King Edward VIII also released a shocking memoir, titled “A King’s Story: The Memoirs of HRH the Duke of Windsor”, during his own time.

So Harry is simply going by the playbook of another royal who quit his duties.
