Meghan Markle and Prince Harry experienced multiple disappointments ever since they left the royal family. And an expert observes in a new report that Harry needs to take action to end his career stalemate.

But because the Duchess of Sussex and Duke of Sussex created a united brand, Meghan has become stuck as well.

And after ranking as Hollywood’s biggest losers of 2023, Harry’s failures have trapped Meghan. Can they work together to emerge victors rather than self-described victims in 2024? Get all the details below.

2023 Turned Meghan Markle Into Biggest Loser

After a year that ended with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry becoming known as Hollywood’s biggest losers, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes that the Duchess and Duke of Sussex face professional stalemates. And he reflected on the latest blows to their reputation via MSN.

“Several members of the cast of Suits reunited at the Golden Globes to present the cast of Succession with the Best Drama Series Award,” he pointed out. And although Meghan didn’t join them, the award show featured “the Sussexes as the butt of more jokes.”

But Fitzwilliams noted that the Duchess and Duke faced the latest shade after a year where the two encountered repeated mocking.

And he added, “This began with South Park’s ‘Worldwide Privacy Tour’ in February, which satirized their hypocritical obsession with privacy. Last year, their [popularity] ratings collapsed in the United States. Host of the Globes, Jo Koy, quipped last night that they had been paid millions ‘for doing absolutely nothing- and that’s just by Netflix!”

Prince Harry Needs To Take Action

And the royal expert warned that Prince Harry needs to take action. “If they don’t want to be recognized as ‘losers,’ it’s surely time the Sussexes actually did something other than continue Harry’s charitable activities which he launched prior to his marriage,” opined Fitzwilliams.

Because Meghan’s brand has become linked to Harry’s, she in some ways has become trapped in his fate. But when Meghan and Harry first left the royal family, they planned to go smoothly from Palace life to Hollywood fame and fortune. And the two did succeed in signing multi-million-dollar content creation deals with Netflix and Spotify in 2020.

However, in the past year, Hollywood has changed its views on the Duchess and Duke of Sussex. And from late night talk show jokes to cartoon shade, Meghan and Harry became fodder for comics.

But the backlash from Harry’s memoir, Spare, and his repeated criticism trapped both in a nightmare of bad publicity.  For instance, an entire South Park satirical episode and a Family Guy sketch mocked the Duchess and Duke of Sussex. And the couple also lost their podcast deal with Spotify.

Meghan Markle Disappointed With Hollywood

However, Harry and Meghan had hoped for a Primetime Emmy nomination. But Hollywood failed to come through. And Harry also didn’t get the Grammy he wanted for his 15-hour self-narrated audiobook version of Spare. 

But even as Meghan keeps claiming that the two look forward to new projects, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards saw the Sussexes’ Netflix boss, Ted Sarandos, pal Oprah Winfrey and A-list stars such as Meryl Streep, Margot Robbie, Emma Stone and Taylor Swift gather to listen to host Jo Koy mock Harry.

And Koy praised actress Imelda Staunton’s performance as Queen Elizabeth II in the royal drama series, The Crown. “Her portrayal of the queen was so good, Prince Harry called her and asked her for money,” Koy said, throwing shade at the Duke of Sussex. But he also joked about both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. And he mocked, “It turns out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still get paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing…and that’s just by Netflix.”
