The Duchess of Sussex started 2023 with great ambitions to become an A-list star. But alas, Meghan Markle now feels that it all became “too much,” per insiders via Heat magazine.

And one source revealed that both Meghan and hubby Prince Harry now feel “forced to face up to their dwindling star status and fight for survival.”

But the insider added, “Meghan and Harry are talking a good game for 2024.” However, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex feel “way behind where they wanted to be at this stage of their journey. There’s this constant fear of having their royal titles stripped, which would be an unmitigated disaster for their brand.”

And as Meghan and Harry look ahead, they worry that no big projects have materialized. “Apart from The Tig [Meghan’s lifestyle blog], which will cost them a fortune to roll out if and when it does happen, they don’t have a huge amount in the pipeline. There’s certainly nothing that could compare to the $100m Netflix deal that was supposed to be their ticket to millionaire status,” noted the source.

Meghan Markle Tells Harry To ‘Step Up’

However, the insider revealed that Meghan felt “frustrated by their lack of progress last year, not to mention all the hostility towards them. She’s told Harry things have got to get better in 2024, or she’s got no idea what they’re going to do.”

And the Duchess of Sussex views 2024 as “make or break for them.” But Meghan has decided to push Harry into achieving more in the upcoming year. “And Meghan’s told Harry to step up. So far, it’s been her doing the lion‘s share of the networking, and she’s stressed – largely because so many deals have fallen apart,” added the source.

As a result of that stress, the Duchess of Sussex “wants to take a step back, and feels it’s time for Harry to get his game face on. At this point, they’re fighting to keep their band alive, and they need to be out there closing deals. Yes, they still have Netflix, but they need [to] come up with the goods if they want to hang onto it,” added the insider.

Prince Harry Hunts For Property

Living in their California mansion involves paying some big bills. But without any profitable projects, the couple’s finances have become a concern. “And, with their crazy high-living expenses, they need to know there’s cash coming in. It’s no wonder Meg’s cracking the whip,” noted the source.

However, Prince Harry reportedly began a search to buy some property in Malibu. “But now, we’re told, their dreams of living the high life could crumble if the income steams run dry,” shared a source. And Meghan has begun “thinking more globally’ to maintain their finances.”

But the source admitted that part of Meghan’s demands on Harry seem “ego-driven. Meghan wants to prove people wrong,” added the source. “And becoming a billionaire is a sure-fire way to gain respect. But she’s also driven by her fear of running out of cash – and the way they spend money, it’s a possibility.”
