British royal family news reveals that one of Prince Harry’s favorite hobbies may be losing its appeal (pun intended).
Even before his 2020 escape from the tragic kingdom, Harry was fond of litigation. Beginning in 2019, Harry has brought a string of lawsuits against the U.K. government, media conglomerates, and picture agencies. His track record suggests it’s time to find a new, less expensive hobby.
Royal Family News: Prince Harry’s Losing Ways
Royal expert Jack Royston told Newsweek’s The Royal Report podcast: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he is actually just working his way through these existing cases and we will see an end to the era of the lawsuit coming around the corner.”
Security is one area Harry doesn’t seem to want to budge on however.
He recently appealed a judge’s ruling in his famed security case: “The appeal kind of rocked that boat a little bit. I wasn’t expecting him to… He also has a massive case in the pipeline, which is his phone-hacking, wiretapping lawsuit against The Mail on Sunday and the Daily Mail.”
Last year Harry won damages and a settlement from Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), publishers of the Daily Mirror in Britain, over allegations of unlawful information gathering. He has two similar lawsuits in the pipeline.
Royal Family News – Harry’s Legal Losses
But amongst the wins are plenty of losses. This January Harry ended a libel lawsuit against the publishers of The Mail on Sunday after the judge ruled that the U.K. ended his full-time state-funded police protection legally. Harry’s lawyers indicated they will appeal the decision.
Jack Royston noted that it’s been a year since Harry filed his last significant lawsuit, indicating that he could be realizing the error of his ways.
Royal Family News: Will Harry Wise Up?
“It seems to me that it’s been a long time since Harry filed a new lawsuit, and I kind of feel like he might have had enough of it after some of them started going south,” Royston said.
At this point in time Prince Harry has Harry has two pending lawsuits and one proposed appeal. Most notably he has a Home Office Appeal over the body’s RAVEC committee (Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures) 2020 decision to vacate state-funded police protection.
It was the logical outcome of Harry vacating his royal responsibilities, but he seems to think there are two sets of rules in play.
