Prince Harry’s friends at Netflix and The Crown are defying Prince William’s edict. How so? The series has been criticized for its depiction of the royals leading William to demand that the streamer not air certain part of his mother’s, the late Princess Diana, life.
The part in question is said to be disgraced Martin Bashir’s extraordinary BBC Panorama interview with Princess Diana. That interview was done in 1995 and the dark reverberations are felt to this day.
Royal Family News – Prince William Fires Back
This year William slammed the BBC interview and stated it put out a, “false narrative,” with, “no legitimacy,” according to The Sun.
Despite William’s angry words, insiders say Netflix has spent millions on an episode devoted to the Panorama interview and it will be a key component of the next installment. While William has slammed Netflix, his runway brother Harry has embraced the Network accused of dragging his mother. He has a multimillion-dollar contract with them despite being called a sell-out and a hypocrite for getting in bed with the streamer.
Prince Harry Has Been Called A Hypocrite
An insider told The Sun, “The Crown’s creators see the interview as the keystone moment in series five. To the writers, the stormy marriage between Charles and Di led up to her outpouring on Panorama, and the aftermath of that decision defined her final months.”
“They are making a huge investment in that. The Crown has a track record of delving into areas of the Royal Family’s history they’d rather be left alone.”
What was so incendiary about the interview? For starters, the fact that Diana went public was shocking for the time, and she said some jaw dropping things most infamously that, “there were three of us in the marriage,” referring to her husband Charles’ affair with his now-wife Camilla.

Royal Family News – William Is Not Liking Netflix
This year Bashir’s nefarious methods to gain the interview were exposed and denounced by the BBC. In response William said, “This Panorama program holds no legitimacy and should never be aired again. It effectively established a false narrative which, for over a quarter of a century, has been commercialized by the BBC and others.”
Ingrid Seward of Majesty Magazine said yesterday of the Netflix news, “This would be extremely upsetting and the only protection William has is not to watch it.” Wonder if Harry will watch with popcorn in hand?
