Prince Louis Charms Crowds, Baffles Kate Middleton With Royal Antics

Royal family news reveals that Prince Louis stole the spotlight once more. And Princess Kate watched as her 5-year-old son delighted onlookers at the Trooping the Color event. But Louis also seemingly baffled his royal mom with one unusual gesture.

Prince Louis Steals Royal Spotlight

At just 5, Kate Middleton’s son Prince Louis knows how to charm a crowd. And onlookers cheered for Louis at the Trooping the Colour events. For instance, Kate’s youngest child offered up a cheeky salute when he stood on the Buckingham Palace balcony. And as Kate watched, Louis waved his fists around in the air. But he managed to baffle his royal mother by suddenly acting as if he were riding a motorcycle, noted Page Six.

Last year, Louis joined his older brother Prince George, 9, and big sister Princess Charlotte, 8, for the first time in a carriage ride. This year marked their second such experience. And in true carefree fashion, Louis held his nose in response to the horses. However, he seemed to enjoy seeing aircraft participate in a ceremony that marked the military honoring the monarch.

But for a five-year-old, Louis behaved throughout the ceremony. And his appearance follows his playful antics last year at the late Queen Elizabeth’s jubilee celebrations. This year, Queen Camilla helped Kate to keep a watchful eye on Louis. Princess Kate, 41, wore an enormous hat and a bold green frock. The dress color offered a salute to Prince William’s environmental Earthshot Prize, which will move to Singapore this November for its award ceremony.

Royal Family Gathers On Balcony Without Prince Harry

Louis’ father, Prince William, did not join his family in the carriage. And he rode a horse in his position as Colonel of the Welsh Guards. This year the group became the regiment to present its flag to King Charles. And Charles, 74, also rode on horseback. Royal colonels joining him included his brother Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, as well as Prince William.

But the traditional gathering of the royal family on the balcony reflected King Charles’ wish for a smaller monarchy. And along with Charles, his sister, Princess Anne, and her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, as well as Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, joined William, Kate, and their children. However, notably missing was Prince Harry. 

King Charles’ younger son, Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, remained in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Their current residence reflects the couple’s decision to step back from senior royal life in January 2020. But it didn’t go as well as the two assumed. For instance, Spotify recently cancelled Meghan’s and Harry’s $20 million deal.
