On Wednesday, September 27, Prince William and Princess Catherine visited Wales to meet and greet the different communities, as well as learn about the charity organizations in the area.
Their visit made a splash in different media outlets’ headlines, as pictures of Kate Middleton receiving flowers from little children went viral. There’s particularly one floating around the internet, and it’s the one where Catherine received flowers from a beautiful little boy as she and her husband arrived at the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station in Anglesey, Wales.
She also got to meet a 2-year-old girl named Charlotte, who was all smiles to get to meet the Princess, as she packed her a bag of Baby Basics.
Prince William And Princess Catherine Visited These Places During Their Official Outing In Wales
The Wales couple started their day on Anglesey, where they visited RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station, and got to meet the crew, volunteers and some of those who have been supported by their local unit. Holyhead, known for being brave and receiving 70 awards for gallantry, is one of three oldest lifeboat stations located on the Welsh Coast.
From there, the couple walked the short distance to Holyhead Marine and Café Bar, where they met local people including representatives of small businesses and organisations, such as the Coastguard and Sea Cadets.
Over the course of two years, the church has managed to grow into a thriving community hub that provides various services to underprivileged people around the area. Their services to the community include a food bank that supports over 200 people per week, Swansea Baby Basics that helps to distribute essential items to vulnerable mothers, facilities for the homeless including food, showers and toilets, and so much more.
As part of their visit, their Royal Highnesses met the volunteers who contribute to the church’s different initiatives, including Baby Basics and the Food Bank.
The Princess Of Wales’ Work Getting Baby Basics To Vulnerable Mothers During the Pandemic
Their charity outing on Tuesday is not the first time that Catherine has been involved in helping to deliver baby basics to underprivileged mothers around the UK. In the summer of 2020, when the pandemic was raging and lockdowns were imposed, the Princess of Wales set out to provide help for mothers nursing little ones.
She partnered with Baby Banks and was able to get 19 British brands and retailers to work together to donate over 10,000 new items to more than than 40 baby banks nationwide, operated by Baby Basics, Little Village, and AberNecessities.
Catherine has also visited several baby banks across the UK, including in London, Sheffield and West Norfolk, where she has met families benefiting from the charities and listened to their experiences. She also regularly volunteers to help unload and pack donations.
