Prince William and Kate Middleton’s really long vacations are raising eyebrows again. While the royal couple like to point out that they only take breaks whenever their three children are off from school, some critics have noticed that their vacation calendar seems to look more full than their actual work calendar.

And with all the money that the British taxpayers are spending to fund their luxurious lifestyle, that’s giving some people a reason to be upset. Here’s what you need to know.

Royal author and expert Richard Palmer, who often has rather positive things to say about the royal family and even the Prince and Princess of Wales, suggests that some people are raising their eyebrows over the fact that the couple seem to be taking more vacations these days than actually taking on any real work.

For years, Prince William and Kate Middleton have always lagged behind the other senior members of the royal family when it came to the number of engagements they did each year.

Palmer put it this way, “ They’re very popular, they’re a huge asset to the UK, but there have been eyebrows raised in other parts of the royal household about the amount of time they’re not doing official engagements. It may well be that they come under a little bit of pressure to up their number of engagements.”

The royal expert also added that Prince William and Kate Middleton should monitor the amount of time that they take off in the future as this is certainly not a good look for them or for the royal family as a whole.

He continued, “There aren’t many families where both the father and mother are able to have 12 or 13 weeks with their children on all of their school breaks. I think there’s an awful lot of goodwill towards them but they do need to keep an eye on that.”
