The debate about Prince William and his workload increased after a headline from Norman Baker questioned when the future king would “step up.”
Baker’s piece, reported by the Daily Mail, pointed out that “His absences have not gone unnoticed.” It claimed William has carried out a low number of engagements so far this year.
Timing And Coincidence
Neil Sean addressed the drama on his Daily News Headlines vlog on Sunday night. The royal commentator suggested the timing of this criticism wasn’t a coincidence.

He pointed directly at the ongoing behaviour of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Sean claimed the couple were “really escalating this drama.” He argued there was a “verbal and physical and mainstream media attack” happening against Prince William.
Plus, he felt the Prince of Wales became a target just as he turned 44.
Sean dismissed the idea that William should be overly concerned.

He admitted he didn’t wish William a happy birthday publicly. “Between you and I, I know that William’s not too keen,” Sean said.
He reasoned that getting into your forties makes you think, “do I need to be reminded?”
Where Is The Real Problem?
The royal family commentator felt the real issue lay elsewhere. He believed Harry had always thought he was the more popular brother. Sean disagreed with that assessment
Sean insisted that Prince Harry genuinely believed “William would call him back.”
Additionally, Sean claimed Harry never expected William to build the family life he has today. If true, Sean argued, that assumption proved incorrect.
The royal expert then opined, “He doesn’t necessarily need Harry.”
Drama and The Queen’s Staff
The real turning point for William, according to Sean, wasn’t the Oprah interview. It was Harry’s behaviour towards the Queen’s staff.
Sean recalled Harry saying he wanted to ensure the right people were around her. He said that comment was a “far greater cutting of the knife for Prince William.”
Sean argued that the comment dismissed the loyal staff who cared for the monarch during Covid and after Philip’s death.
Irritating Meghan – Harry’s A Bigger Issue?
Sean claimed that Prince William finds Meghan “an irritant.” But he suggested William’s more bothered by his brother.
Voicing his opinion, Sean claimed that Harry now believes “William can’t do it without him.” That belief, Sean argued, is the real gulf between them.
Sean concluded there would be no family reunion. In his view, William would never meet Meghan Markle again.
Then, he chased that up by predicting, “there’s going to be no curtsy” and no happy photograph. Oh yes, the old curtsy story that sparked tons of speculation back in the day.
He said the mainstream media preferred to keep it a celebrity bubble. But behind the scenes, the problems are far deeper than a headline about engagements.
