It’s not easy being the future king of England, let alone someone who is about to feel like a single dad. There’s new social media speculation that suggests Prince William is about to face the most difficult time of his life.

But it has nothing to do with his position within the royal family or his ongoing feud with Prince Harry.

Instead, it’s because his wife Kate Middleton is going to be on bed rest for four months, leaving William to pick up all the work with the couple’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Here’s what you need to know.

As many royal fans are aware by now, Kate Middleton has had abdominal surgery at The London Clinic. She is expected to stay in the hospital for at least two weeks and will continue to be on bed rest until Easter.

The palace did not go into great detail but to say that she will be out of the public eye for a very long time.

Of course, this has forced Prince William to step up to the plate, both professionally and at home. Without Kate Middleton, he is going to have to pick up her workload with additional royal engagements and public appearances for the next several weeks to come.

At home, he’s also going to have to help out more with the couple’s three kids. Let’s just say that the Prince of Wales is really going to understand what it means to be on daddy duty.

While there’s no doubt that William and Kate do get a lot of help with their royal nannies, the princess is also a very hands-on mom and that’s something her husband knows all too well.

Without Kate Middleton around to help the kids with their homework and day-to-day tasks, William is going to have to play two roles. He will have to be both the mom and dad. And of course, the future king of England whenever he’s in the public eye.
