British royal family news shows that royal marriages are not immune to the same woes and worries as marriages among commoners. And yet regal Prince William and Kate Middleton have just celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and manage to make their union look like the proverbial fairytale.
Royal Family News – The Cambridge’s Live a Fairytale
Royal historian Robert Lacey wrote the cover story for People magazine this week and in it he addresses the monarchy, the Queen’s legacy, and William and Kate’s relationship.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have made it a point to present themselves as a united couple and their 10th anniversary portraits show a smiling couple exhibiting genuine happiness.
They also appear natural and comfortable when taking the rare picture with their kids, Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte. What does Lacey think of the way they have managed to go from strength to strength?
Royal Family News – Robert Lacey Discusses The Cambridges
According to Lacey, “The House of Windsor has an abysmal track record of marital failure, but William has broken the cycle.” Lacey also wrote of the sibling relationship between William and Prince Harry in his book Battle of Brothers.
Lacey thinks that Kate is the glue that keeps the relationship thriving, and he describes her as an, “empathetic outsider from middleclass origins.”
Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, have been happily married for 41 years. William’s parents endured a messy headline filled marriage and by their tenth year of matrimony Prince Charles and Princess Diana were desperately unhappy and doomed to end up divorced.
Prime Minister John Major announced their separation in December 1992 and what followed was a highly contentious divorce that gave William a front row seat to what a miserable marriage looks like.
Prince William Lost His Mother At A Young Age
Lacey thinks that Kate understands her role as a future monarch’s consort and the importance of setting the right example for her children.
She and William, “have focused on … working to ensure that all three of their children — [Prince] George, 6-year-old Princess Charlotte and 3-year-old Prince Louis — enjoy the peaceful childhood that eluded William and Harry.”

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the couple’s former private secretary, told People that the pair are the perfect partners. He said William, “has the experience of knowing where the institution sits and seeing it evolve,” while Kate, “brings this pragmatic awareness of what it’s like to be from a decent, down-to-earth family. They have a solid bond through these last 10 years. If you had scoured the realm you couldn’t have got a better pair, frankly.”

Kate and Meghan are as different as Harry and William.
Catherine is pure beauty and class who is a wonderful wife, mother and future Queen consort. William has enough of Princess Diana in him that he is able to know the importance of empathy, fidelity and loyalty which makes him very different from his father and uncles.
We’re so happy you’re in the know. What would we do. I’m a american. I couldn’t care less what William and Kate do, although they do see to be behaving. Meghan and Harry are like a Kardashian side show and we are so sick of it. We’ve already seen the worst and the nastiest. How low do they plan on going because for us….the are already on the trash heap.
