It’s official: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer part of the Royal Foundation, making their split from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s brand legal and final.
On Tuesday this week, documents published by Companies House revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s charity has officially and legally removed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from its name. From “The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Sussex,” it is now simply known as “The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”
Fab Four No More
The split is no surprise as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced this spring that they were leaving the Royal Foundation to start their own organization. Subsequently, the Sussexes set-up the Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Since then, Meghan and Harry have been keeping themselves busy promoting their new brand and championing their own causes. They created their own Instagram account and assembled their own staff.
The Royal Foundation was originally set-up by Princes William and Harry in 2009. Kate Middleton joined when she married Prince William in 2011, while Meghan as Prince Harry’s fiance in 2018.
Royal fans were thrilled to see the “Fab Four,” as they were called, put up a united front and create a new, high-profile brand of royalty. In February 2018, the first and only Royal Foundation forum took place in London and Prince Harry was even quoted to say that the four of them were “stuck together for the rest of our lives.”
Royal Feud?
Royal expert Phil Dampier told The Daily Mail that the split is a “massive mistake” and sparks more feud rumors.
“I think they sent a powerful message as a four,” Dampier stated. “Whereas this looks like they’re pitting against each other both personally and professionally.”
Rumors of a feud among the four started shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding, when the new couple refused to live in Kensington Palace with Prince William and Kate as originally planned. Soon after, there were reports saying that Kate Middleton was spotted crying at a dress rehearsal for Meghan’s wedding.

Recently, Prince Harry’s comments about having only two kids to minimize their carbon footprint were taken as a dig against his brother and sister-in-law, who now have three children. Additionally, Meghan Markle refused to appear on the cover of Vogue UK and remarked that it would look “boastful” seemed insensitive, considering that Kate Middleton has become a cover girl years ago. Interestingly, Prince William and Kate Middleton publicly took a commercial flight with all their three children amid the backlash against Harry and Kate’s use of private jets this month.
To see the Fab Four working together in events would have been an exciting sight for royal fans, but alas, it looks like it really is the end of a short royal era.
