Royal Family News: Princess Diana’s Statue Unveiled By Prince Harry And William

British royal family news reveals that the long awaited unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue, and the reunion of her warring sons, took place today with a small audience and no reported drama between Princes William and Harry.

On what would have been her 60th birthday the issued a joint statement which read in part: “Every day, we wish she were still with us.”

The brothers were seen pulling down a green tarp to expose the statue which was created by Ian Rank-Broadley. The statue is in the Sunken Garden, one of her favorite garden spots.

The bronze statue is said to depict Diana in her later years and shows the late mother of two with her arms around two children, with another figure obscured in the back.

Harry arrived 15 minutes before the ceremony began and left 90 minutes after the unveiling. While still there he interacted with Diana’s siblings Earl Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

In a joint statement the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex commemorated their mother by saying, “Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.”

“Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.”

Royal Family News – Princess Diana’s Statue Has Been Unveiled

The statue is said to reflect the, “final period of her life as she gained confidence in her role as an ambassador for humanitarian causes,” and “aims to convey her character and compassion.”

It was commissioned by the brothers in 2017 and 2021 marks the twentieth anniversary of her death in Paris in a tragic car accident.

A paving stone is in front of the statue with a verse from the poem The Measure of A Man by Albert Schweitzer: “These are the units to measure the worth Of this woman as a woman regardless of birth. Not what was her station? But had she a heart? How did she play her God-given part?”
