Queen Elizabeth and her three heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George got together at Buckingham Palace to bake some special treats. The Christmas pudding was created to support the Royal British Legion’s new initiative in regards to supporting the Armed Forces community.
The symbolism of Christmas Pudding
The reason Christmas pudding was chosen as the special dessert to make is due to what it symbolizes. Traditionally, it is supposed to bring good luck. There were a total of four puddings created and they will be centerpieces at the Legion Christmas events. It is part of the new initiative, called Together at Christmas, to support the communities of the Armed Forces around the holiday season.
The Royal Baking Process
Royals news reveals each family member added commemorative sixpences into the mix. They are prepared to be discovered by the people who attend the events next year. A special Royal British Legion recipe was created just for this occasion. To top off the Christmas pudding, poppy seeds were added, which is supposed to be a symbol of remembrance.
Prince George, Little Baking Extraordinaire
It was teased that Prince George takes after his mother when it comes to the kitchen. Kate Middleton previously revealed that she bakes birthday cakes for her children completely from scratch. It seems that Prince George has inherited her baking skills.
Together for Christmas Initiative
The Royal British Legion’s direction General, Charles Byrne, issued a statement on the special event. The well-being of the community is of the utmost importance to the organization. According to People magazine, Byrne said, “The Legion is not only here for older veterans, but all ages of the Armed Forces community. As the Monarch and next three generations, Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses represent a cross-section of those supported by the Legion, from the children of service personnel, to Second World War veterans,”
He added that the holidays can be a period when people’s problems and fears are made worse by money concerns. It can make individuals feel lonely and isolated. By providing a layer of support, the charity hopes to make a difference in the community’s well-being.
