Queen Elizabeth Balances Business Against Family Scandal – How Much Longer Can 94-Year Old Do It ?

Queen ElizabethBritish Royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth II has shown her mettle time and again, on a global stage no less. The 94-year old United Kingdom monarch is the world’s longest-serving sovereign and in her time she has managed The Firm, the challenging meld of family and business, with grace and aplomb. Here are a few times when she struck the perfect balance between being a boss and a beloved family member– not a task for the faint of heart.

In 1997 she was forced to address the nation after the untimely and tragic death of Princess Diana. Her words were designed to comfort a nation that needed reassurance from its head of state. But she also spoke as the grandmother of two young boys who lost their mother.

Queen Elizabeth II Excels At Balancing Family With Business

Elizabeth was thrust into her exceedingly delicate role at a young age after the sudden death of her father King George VI, in 1952. Elizabeth was a young mother, just 25 years old when she took the monarchy’s top job. Prince Charles was three and Princess Anne was one when their own mom became “mother of the nation.” She made it work, going on to have two more children all the while representing the monarchy.

The Queen’s Sense Of Duty Has Always Been First And Foremost

Today she has four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. During her solo reign, the country has had 14 prime ministers. She likes to say, “I have to be seen to be believed,” and at 94-years old, not even the coronavirus pandemic could halt her string of appearances, albeit virtually.

When the coronavirus pandemic locked down the country she comforted the nation when she insisted, “We will meet again.”

In some ways, the monarchy has never been more popular as millions of viewers regularly tune into the series The Crown, based on her life and times. Yet in recent times her life has been beset with tandem family scandals brought about by one of her sons and one of her grandsons.

Prince Andrew’s relationship with the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein has brought disgrace to Andrew and scandal to The Firm.

And then there is the fresh hell wrought by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who decided they hate royal life and picked the most ostentatious and public way to quit it. Their distasteful Megxit announcement was told to the Queen just ten minutes before they announced it to the world.

The queen has ruled for decades and many wonder if she will ever abdicate. At age 21 she dedicated her “whole life” to “service” and many believe she will continue to lead her country and head her family until the day she dies.
