Royal fans are suspecting a royal snub when the Queen rejected an award bestowed on elderly people with significant lifetime achievements, which was presented and publicized by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Queen Rejects Oldie Awards, Claims It’s Because You’re As Old as You Feel
The 74-year-old Duchess of Cornwall was the face of the awards ceremony which took place on Tuesday, October 19. It was publicized on the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s official Twitter page Clarence House. The post read: “Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Oldie of the Year Awards!”
It continued: “The Duchess of Cornwall presented awards during the ceremony today, which celebrates the best of the older generation.”
A series of linked posts by the Clarence House explained the aim of the awards: “For the last 29 years, @oldiemagazine has held The Oldie of the Year Awards ceremony to celebrate the achievement of those who have made a special contribution to public life.”
Another wrote: “Today’s winners included television cook Dame Delia Smith and Dr Mridul Kumar Datta and Dr Saroj Datta, who together have over 110 years of exemplary service to the NHS.”
However, the Queen was one of the nominated “oldies”, but she turned down the award supported by her daughter-in-law.

A statement was issued on the Queen’s behalf to The Oldie Awards’ chairman and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth. It explained that the award was turned down on the grounds that “Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel”.
“As such The Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept, and hopes you will find a more worthy recipient,” the statement read. “This message comes to you with Her Majesty’s warmest best wishes,” the message concluded.
The Duchess of Cornwall attended the awards ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel, alongside Mr. Brandreth.
This is the first in-person attendance at The Oldie Awards since 2019.
Camilla attended the ceremony in order to celebrate older citizens who have contributed so much to their society during their decades of life.
The recent outing is coming in the wake of royal journalists accusing Camilla of making a “mafia thug move” at Diana when the latter was engaged to Prince Charles.
