British royal family news shows that Catherine, the Princess of Wales has changed up her jewelry game and this has tongues wagging.
She is synonymous with the blue sapphire engagement ring that was worn by her late mother-in-law Diana, but has chosen not to wear it recently.
What’s going on? Keep reading to discover why Kate isn’t wearing the iconic bauble like she used to.
Kate Middleton Will Be Queen One Day
The late Diana’s stunning engagement ring is likely the most famous and recognized ring in the universe. Diana was a fashion trend setter and it was only appropriate that her eldest son William would gift it to his own wife.
But when Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, was spotted without her engagement ring recently, it was a major shock.
The moment was captured in an Insta video in which the princess promotes the Scouts. Jewelry expert Ella Citron-Thompkins spoke to Hello! Magazine about why she thinks Kate wasn’t wearing the famous ring.
What Happened to Diana’s Ring?
Ella notes that “The video focuses on the importance of nature, mental well-being, and emotional grounding; her ring is a highly recognisable piece, so she may strategically want audiences to connect with the messaging rather than herself.”
That sounds exactly like the kind of humble gesture that Kate would perform. Ella noted that “Instead of her engagement ring, Kate Middleton opted to wear her eternity ring stack.”
Kate was also pictured without the ring in one of the announcements she made while undergoing cancer treatment, something that Ella also noticed.
Kate Middleton is Changing Things Up
Ella noted that “Following her recent treatment” Kate has perhaps shifted perspectives and priorities in her life. She commented on the fact that health issues “often bring a deeper appreciation for comfort and symbolism, especially in the pieces we choose to wear, so it’s understandable and admirable as to why she may opt for a more ‘low key’ approach to casual appearances.”
Kate’s modern day fairy tale began when she met Prince William at St. Andrew’s University. The couple were engaged in 2012 during a private holiday and at that time he gave his future bride the beautiful band. The couple are happily married with three children.
