A royal expert claimed that it’s been a “catastrophic” week behind the scenes for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The opinion came soon after King Charles issued an official clarification of their status.
The Delivery of the Letter
During his Daily News Headlines vlog on Friday, Neil Sean noted that the message from the palace arrived in the Daily Mail first. In fact, the outlet was the first to publish it.
Rebecca English published her breaking story about 10 minutes after the letter was released to the media.
Sean believed that using the outlet was a choice made by King Charles. He said, “Think about that. This is the Daily Mail that’s now demanding millions of dollars and pounds, British pounds out of his youngest son.”

He also said that the lawsuit was “an embarrassment on the world stage with the pill popping stuff and all of that,” adding that it seems with King Charles, “You couldn’t get really more decisive.”
The Working Royal Claim
The letter from the monarchy clearly showed that the palace doesn’t consider Prince Harry and Meghan to be working royals. The Daily Mail wrote, King Charles’ “son and daughter-in-law are not working royals and should be treated as ‘private citizens.”
But according to Sean’s unnamed source, Harry and Meghan wanted to have input on the decision. However, the International Business Times noted that the report was unconfirmed.
Sean claims palace insiders rejected that idea entirely. The King’s decision, it seems, isn’t open for debate.
Harry’s stance isn’t new, according to Sean. He recalled when Harry traveled to Ukraine and gave an interview to ITV News. The Prince rejected the description “not a working royal.”
During the ITV News interview, he said he would always be part of the Royal Family and was “here working doing the things that I was born to do.”
Sean claims that statement was a clear gauntlet thrown down to Prince William. In his opinion, it was Harry pushing back and telling the family he would decide his own role.
Pushing For Titles
Former staff members who allegedly worked with the couple say it’s impossible to get a clear answer from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They stay very guarded.
Behind the scenes in California, Meghan’s team allegedly worked hard to keep the couple viewed as royal figures.
Meanwhile, Meghan allegedly tried a similar approach when using her titles with friends. Sean noted that during a trip to Australia, Meghan allegedly wanted to be addressed as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.“
An unnamed source described as a former staff member, told Sean that people often mistake Meghan for a real-life princess when she’s out in public and she allegedly doesn’t bother to correct them.
Rejection of Private Status
When the couple first stepped back from royal duties, Harry told people to just call him “Harry,” indicating that they wanted to be seen as private citizens.
Now, things appear to have changed completely per an unnamed source who told Sean that the couple refuses to accept being treated as private citizens.
They allegedly believe their titles were given by Queen Elizabeth II and intend to keep using them.
What Comes Next
Sean opined that Prince William is actively pushing the official royal website to clarify their status, but the tension keeps rising. Harry isn’t backing down at all and the battle lines are clearly drawn now.
If the royal family commentator’s claims are correct, they suggest a tough road lies ahead for the King as the Sussexes push back against the boundaries of the letter.
Do you think King Charles was right to issue the clear boundaries, or should Harry and Meghan be allowed to use their titles as they see fit? Let us know in the comments, and then come back here for all your royal family news and updates.
