British royal family news reveals that Meghan Markle has an incredible origin story, or rather, stories, it’s hard to keep track of all the versions.
The basic cable actress married a prince, Harry, in 2018 and it’s been all dramarama since then. Here are three unbelievable nuggets from her fairytale life!
Royal Family News – Meghan’s Been In Hollywood Since Childhood
The world knows Markle as Rachel from Suits, but long before that she was born and raised in Los Angeles to Thomas Markle, an Emmy award winning lighting director.
He also worked on the set of ABC’s General Hospital, which is where she got her start. Nepo baby vibes.
Markle told Esquire “There were a lot of times my dad would say, ‘Meg, why don’t you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes’” referring to his work on the primetime show Married With Children, a show she allegedly wasn’t allowed to watch at home.
Royal Family News – Meghan’s Dad Got Rich Through Won the Lottery
In 1990 Thomas Markle Sr. won a huge payout from the California State lottery. According to MSN, he won nearly a million dollars: $750,000.
The outlet reports that good dad Thomas “used the money to pay off his child’s schooling at Immaculate Heart Catholic School, a prestigious academy that currently costs $17,650 per year. The lottery also paid for Markel’s college education at Northwestern University.”
Yet she has not spoken to him for years, despite his pleas to be allowed to meet her kids before he dies.
Royal Family News – Meghan’s Childhood Soap Commercial Experience
Markle has made much ado about being a feminist. Apparently her activism began before her teen years when the precocious 11-year-old tried “to get a Procter & Gamble commercial to stop being sexist.” Because of her efforts, Nick News interviewed her in 1993. The ad in question was for Ivory dish soap, “clearly directed at women.
While panning over a sink overflowing with dirty dishes, the narrator quips women are fighting greasy pots and pans with Ivory dish soap all over America. Annoyed by this, Markle wrote to anyone who might listen, including Procter & Gamble itself.” She has a thing against clean dishes?
Royal Family News – Meghan’s Early Activism
Believe it or not, the company complied with Meghan’s demand that they drop the word “women” and use the word “people” instead.
Apparently the freckle faced kid spouted off at the time: “If you see something you don’t like or are offended by on television or any other place, write letters and send them to the right people and you can really make a difference.” This explains a lot doesn’t it, royal fans?
