Royal Family News: Camilla Pulls Rank At Order Of The Garter, Scolds Kate Middleton

British royal family news reveals that The Order of the Garter ceremony is a colorful (think velvet robes and plumed hats) annual royal event, and this year it was held last Monday. The Mirror reports that the Order of the Garter was founded by Edward III in 1348 in order to recognize outstanding contributions to public service.

Members of the Order include the Queen, several senior royals, and 24 other Knights or Ladies, hand chosen by the queen. This year Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, had the honor of being made a Royal Lady of the Garter.

Due to covid restrictions the ceremony was last held in 2019. That year members of the British Royal Family, the King and Queen of both The Netherlands and Spain, Camilla and Kate Middleton were in attendance. Kate and Camilla watched the with Queen Maxima of The Netherlands and Queen Letizia of Spain.

The women all seemed to enjoy the ceremony and got along well. At one point however, Camilla found to necessary to remind Kate Middleton to be quiet! Let’s break down what this was all about.

According to the outlet Kate and Maxima were chatting up a storm as the procession went along. Dutiful Camilla Parker Bowles watched and then, “tapped Maxima on the arm to remind both ladies to face forwards while the parade passed, lest they miss it. Sophie, Countess of Wessex, also quickly took her place in the lineup next to Letizia.”

“Kate Middleton was spotted deep in conversation at the Order of the Garter ceremony in Windsor in 2019. And if it wasn’t for Camilla’s reminder, she might have missed an important part of the event.”

Royal Family News – Camilla is On Her Toes

Other British royals that are in the Order include Prince Charles, Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. So, why were foreign royals at this monarchs at a very British event? The Mirror says, “some foreign monarchs are also in the Order, but are known as ‘Stranger’ Knights. These include King Felipe of Spain and King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands.” We’re not sure about being called “strange” but in this case it seems all good!
