British royal family news Clarence House has confirmed that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has tested positive for COVID-19. The announcement comes four days after her husband Prince Charles tested positive and went into self-isolation. Despite Charles’ diagnosis, Camilla continued on with royal duties but she, too, is now in isolation.
A spokesman at Clarence House said, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating. We continue to follow government guidelines.”
Royal Family News: Camilla and Prince Charles Are Covid Positive
Camilla and Charles are in their 70’s and said to be fully vaxxed and boosted. Charles’ diagnosis was announced in London on Feb. 10, at the same time Camilla was conducting a royal event. It was said at the time that she had no symptoms of Covid.
It was revealed last week that Charles was in the company of his mother Queen Elizabeth two days before he tested positive. No health status has been announced for Her Majesty, and the public is left to wonder about her health in general after she was hospitalized late last year.
A palace source told People that the monarch, “was being monitored … The Queen was not displaying any symptoms at the time.”
How is The Queen?
The source added, “The situation will continue to be monitored, but regular updates will not be provided on the Queen’s health.” The queen is 95-years old and lost her husband, Prince Philip, of 73 years died last April.
The latest royal Covid diagnosis comes a little over a week after Queen Elizabeth announced that she wishes Charles’ second wife to be given the title Queen Consort, not the lesser title Princess Consort, when Charles takes the throne. Queen Elizabeth issued the statement in an address on the occasion of the beginning of her Platinum Jubilee. The jubilee marks 70 years on the throne and will be celebrated with a four day bank holiday in June.
Prince Harry was called out for being conspicuous in his non-acknowledgement of the good news, and there is speculation there is no love lost between him and his stepmother. Days after the statement Harry spoke out to say he wished to follow in his mother’s footsteps and ignored mention of Camilla. The latest salvo comes from his friends who were quoted as saying Harry will reveal his “true” feelings toward Camilla in his tell-all memoir due this year.
