The rejection was all in good fun with her spokesperson saying, “Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel.” Tom Laing-Baker is the Queen’s assistant private secretary and his words were tweeted by the outlet this week.

He continued, “As such the Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept and hopes you find a more worthy recipient.”
Her Majesty is indeed young at heart as she showed in a summer cake cutting ceremony. There she used a ceremonial sword to divvy up the cake, much to the astonishment of Kate Middleton and Camilla who tried to offer her a knife. She has four children who themselves could contend for the Oldie Award: Prince Charles, 72, Princess Anne, 71, Prince Andrew, 61, and Prince Edward, 57.

The queen will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee next year in recognition of 70 years on the throne. She is the longest-serving British monarch and in 2015 she broke the record set by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, who served for 63 years.
Most recently she has been using a cane. On October 12 she used the device while at a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. Days earlier she was reportedly told by her doctors to stop drinking a nightly martini—the nerve of some people! It is not known if the queen heeded their advice.

What is known is that this week a trip to Northern Ireland was cancelled on doctor’s advice. No reason was given but some are speculating that it could be a ruse for what is actually a concerning security issue in the area.
A source told Us Weekly after her husband’s death in April, “Her emotions are very raw right now, but the queen knows Philip would hate it if she sat around moping for the rest of her years. He would have wanted her to look after herself first and foremost instead and she intends to do her best.” And to that we say, “long live the queen!”
