Here is a cheat sheet of Queen Elizabeth’s immediate family, a good way to immerse yourself into the royal hierarchy.

Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926 to Queen Elizabeth and King George VI and took the throne in 1952. Her sister, Princess Margaret, was born in 1930 and died in 2002. In 1947 Queen Elizabeth married Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark and they had four children together, Prince Charles, Anne, the Princess Royal, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. Prince Philip passed away in April at 99 years of age.

Royal Family News – Prince Charles And His Family

Prince Charles is the Queen’s first born and will inherit the throne after her. He and Lady Diana Spencer had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. They divorced in 1996, a year before she was killed in a car accident.

Prince William is married to Kate Middleton and will inherit the throne after his father. He and Kate have three kids together: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Royal Family News – Anne, the Princess Royal And Her Family

Anne, the Princess Royal, is Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s second child and only daughter. She was married to Captain Mark Phillips in 1973 and they had two children, Prince Peter Phillips and Zara Phillips. They divorced in 1992 and she remarried Captain Timothy Laurence that same year.

Royal Family News – Prince Andrew And His Family

Prince Andrew, is the queen’s third child, born in 1960. He married Sarah Ferguson, in 1986 and they have two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie in 1990. The couple divorced in 1996 but remain cohabitators.

In 2019, Prince Andrew was stripped of royal duties due to unanswered questions about his friendship with dead convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He is being sued for sexual abuse by a woman who claims she was a minor when she was trafficked to Andrew via Epstein.

Royal Family News – Prince Edward And His Family

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex is the queen’s youngest child. He married Sophie Rhys-Jones, and together they are the Count and Countess of Wessex. Edward was born in 1964 and he married Sophie in 1999; at that time he took the title Earl of Wessex and Viscount Severn. The couple have two children together, Lady Louise and James Viscount Severn. The couple decided, as did Princess Anne, not to give prince or princess titles to their children.
