British royal family news reveals that not everyone’s grandma is the Queen of England, but even if she is, one might not realize it. According to her mom Sophie Wessex, that was the too-funny reality for her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor. Louise is the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Earl and Countess of Wessex, and the Queen’s seventh grandchild.
Royal Family News – Lady Louise Now Knows Who Her Grandmother Is
The Wessex family is said to be very close to the 95-year-old monarch and in point of fact they live a mere 10 miles from her Windsor Castle home. If one believes the tabloids, Sophie is the Queen’s favorite daughter-in-law and young Louise had a very special bond with the Queen’s late husband, Philip. Yet, sometimes it is hard to see the forest for the trees!
Royal Family News – Lady Louise is Queen Elizabeth’s Seventh Grandchild
In 2016 the Countess of Wessex revealed in an interview what her kids call the Queen. The interview ws in honor of the Queen’s 90th birthday and the proud mom let it be known that her son and daughter call Her Majesty “grandmama.”
Sophie told Sky News, “I mean Louise had no concept really that the Queen and her grandmother were one and the same person.” So how did Lady Louise Windsor find out who her grandmother is? Where else but in school!
According to her mom, “It wasn’t until she was at school that other children were mentioning it and saying, ‘Your gran is the Queen’. And she’d come home and say, ‘Mummy, they say that Grandmama is the Queen.’ And I said, ‘Yes,’ and she said, ‘I don’t understand what they mean.’”
Lady Louise Is An Equestrian
Louise’s father was once in the same boat as Louise. Prince Edward has shared in the past that he was clueless about his mom’s regal status until he wasn’t. How did he find out that his mother and the Queen were the same person?

The Queen and Prince Philip’s youngest child said, “I can’t necessarily remember when that realization was there. When you grow up in that family and in that environment, that’s just what your parents do.”
“It’s been much more interesting watching our children growing up, and watching our children trying to work out what this, and how that works. It was probably not until five or six I think.”
The concept of grandma being the queen also confounded a young Prince Harry. It’s been reported that one time a courtier at Sandringham told him, “The Queen will be here at teatime,” and he replied, “Who’s the Queen?” My how times change.

How cute that is! It just goes to show that kids take their cues from the adults around them.
