Royal Family News: How Sarah Ferguson Changed Queen’s Mind About Marriage

Here's How Sarah Ferguson Changed The Queen's Mind About MarriageBritish Royal family news reveals while the royal family still observes many traditions – a few of them notably weird – time and civilization has worn away some of the firm’s basic ones.

In the past, it would rather be unseemly for a prince, much less a heir, to marry a commoner. But these days, aristocrats aren’t what they used to be and commoners are becoming the safest bet.

Royal Insider Says Marriage to Well-bred Girls Can Go “Disastrously Wrong”

Royals usually marry other high-ranking people, which is why many of them married their cousins or relations. Marrying outside their class or social circle was rare for the members of the institution.

Even Queen Elizabeth married someone that more or less had the same social standing as herself. Prince Philip, who was born as a prince of Greece and Denmark, was Queen Elizabeth’s third cousin through Queen Victoria and second cousins once removed through King Christian IX of Denmark.

During the 2011 documentary of “William and Kate: Into the Future”, Camilla Tominey said: “The Queen particularly is quite in favour of someone — rather unattractively termed a commoner — marrying the members of the Royal Family because she sees middle-class girls with a good university education as a better bet than perhaps the kind of aristocratic primadonnas that might have been singled out for princes in the days gone by.

“Her experience with people who are less common — say Fergie, who was a commoner of sorts but yet she was the daughter of an army officer and so she probably was from the higher echelons than somebody like Kate Middleton — they’ve gone disastrously wrong.”

It was also reported that Kate had a hard time fitting in with Prince William’s social circle during the earliest days of their relationship. Kate’s parents were also mocked as “social climbers” by the press and neighbors at the time.

But the Duchess of Cambridge has not only shined bright during her 11-year presence as a member of the Royal Family, she has become one of the most loved and relatable royal.
