The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared this message on Instagram on Saturday: “This Christmas will be different to what so many of us had planned. From those who are alone or having to isolate away from loved ones, to the incredible people supporting our NHS and caring for those most in need — we are thinking of you. W & C.”
Royal Family News – Christmas Plans Have Been Upended
The royal family itself has amended their Christmas plans this year. First, Queen Elizabeth cancelled her Christmas Lunch with her family, and next it was decided that she would not travel to Sandringham. Then it was discovered that her son-in-law Laurence Townsend was diagnosed with COVID, making a visit with Princess Anne and her husband impossible.
The Omicron coronavirus variant is wreaking havoc on holiday plans across the globe which factored into the 95-year old monarch’s decision to remain at Windsor Castle.
A royal insider noted that this was her decision taken after, “careful consideration,” and reflects an ongoing, “precautionary approach.” Nonetheless, the queen will have visitors over the Christmas holiday.

The visitors will not include William, Kate and their three children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3. The tightknit family of five will celebrate the day with the Middleton family.
Christmas Day for the Cambridge’s follows Kate’s glorious Christmas Eve piano performance which was seen in the broadcast of her Together at Christmas carol service tv special. A royal insider spilled that the idea for the recital was Kate’s.
She took piano lessons as a child and her piano teacher has praised her as a good student. The tv special aired on December 24 in the UK and featured performances from a variety of celebrities. The broadcast was dedicated to all of the hardworking, unsung heroes who have given their all to help others during the pandemic.
