Royal Family News: King Charles Regrets Making Prince Harry Follow Diana’s Coffin

British royal family news divulges that King Charles has regrets over a decision made decades ago, one that involved the death of his first wife and his now grown sons. According to one royal expert, Charles seems the error of his ways in making his young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, walk behind the their mother Princess Diana coffin in 1997 for all the world to see.

Their pain was on parade, and according to Harry, it was a searing moment that perhaps led to years of drug and alcohol pain numbing coping measures.

Royal watcher Christopher Andersen spoke to sources for his book, “The King: The Life of Charles III,” and makes the stunning claim.

Royal Family News – Charles Has Regrets

He told Us Weekly of Charles, “I think it haunts him because it haunts them, and they’ve spoken about it. I’ve written that I believe it’s a form of PTSD.” Anderson added of Harry, “[He said] it reminds him of that day when he had to walk behind the coffin, and they were more or less bullied into doing it by the palace – by the men in gray who really run the palace, the people that Diana used to complain about.” “[Charles, Earl Spencer], Diana’s brother … has also said that he felt that he was tricked into doing it and regrets it. He said it was like walking through a tunnel of grief.”

Royal Family News – Diana’s Legacy

Diana died at the age of 36 in 1997. She died of injuries sustained in a Paris car crash. William was 15 and Harry was 12 at the time. According to Anderson, “I think both William and Harry thought, ‘Who are these strangers who never met her?’ So, they were angry about what had happened. And Charles, I think, understands that to some extent he was responsible for them having to suffer through [that].”

Harry told Newsweek in 2017 what it was like for him: “My mother had just died, and I had to walk a long way behind her coffin, surrounded by thousands of people watching me while millions more did on television. I don’t think any child should be asked to do that, under any circumstances. I don’t think it would happen today.”

Royal Family News – Harry’s Memoir Titled Spare

Harry defected from the monarchy in 2020. He left with his wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie. The family now live in California and have since welcomed a daughter. Harry has made it a routine to trash and diss his family since then most notably in an ugly and rant-filled Oprah Winfrey interview.

The family he scorned is now waiting the January release of his controversial memoir. He chose to title his life story “Spare,” and royal watchers think he will go all out on the family that sheltered him after his mother’s death.

According to the publisher, “For Harry, this is his story at last.” If the title, and Harry’s vindictiveness, are any indication, Spare will scorch his family. After all, this is the man who threw his clan under the bus to Oprah while his grandfather Prince Philip lay dying in the hospital.
