Royal Family News: Megxit to Blame For Prince Charles Denying Prince Edward A Dukedom?

British royal family news reveals that the word is out that Prince Charles is reportedly refusing to hand over a title to his baby bro, Prince Edward. Some would say Chuck hasn’t even inherited the throne yet and already he’s acting mighty high.

Prince Edward lives at Bagshot with wife Sophie and their two children. He can see Windsor Castle from there, but will that be his only consolation as a royal in waiting? Titles are important in royal circles, and we’re not talking about being a Jr. or a III to a Sr. That type of common title is utterly irrelevant, what is important are dukedoms and the like.

According to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, “the grandiose setting of this sprawling Victorian gothic pile … Edward longed to restore as a royal residence. It was also the historical symmetry that appealed. Prince Arthur was, like Edward, the third son of a reigning monarch, in his case Queen Victoria.

He moved in shortly after his marriage in 1999 when he and Sophie were given the title Earl and Countess of Wessex, but not given a royal dukedom.

But it was announced before their wedding that Prince Edward would succeed to his father Prince Philip’s title as Duke of Edinburgh. Whew.

Royal Family News – Prince Edward Is Still Waiting?

The 99-year old duke died in April and Edward still hasn’t been given his father’s dukedom, a dire situation that, “could threaten Edward and Sophie’s long-coveted elevation to Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.”

Why? Because Prince Charles, who as Philip’s eldest son inherited all his father’s titles, has let it be known that he is not keen on giving Edward his due.

Eden writes, “A source close to him was apparently authoritatively quoted as saying: ‘The Prince is the Duke of Edinburgh as it stands, and it is up to him what happens to the title. It will not go to Edward.’”

If Eden is right, “It is hard to imagine anything more crushing for the Queen’s youngest son than the ruthless certainty of those final six words.”
