Royal Family News: Netflix And Royals War Heats Up Over The Crown

British royal family news reveals that there is a battle royale going on between the UK’s royal family and the purveyors of a dramatized version of the royal family. Netflix’s series The Crown purports to relive the glory days as well as the dog days of the royals and in doing so has engendered a fair amount of criticism. It is not a documentary, it is a dramatization. And yet some people have trouble keeping this in mind.

Which is why the latest season to drop has ratcheted up the demands that the show carry some kind of warning informing the dunces in the audience that they are not watching a reading of a history book on the monarchy.

This season is the most popular probably because it is the most sensationalized, e.g., lurid and salacious, centering on recent scandals. In particular poor Prince Charles and Camilla (now his wife, then his adulterous mistress) have been dragged so much on social media, the poor dears felt it necessary to announce they were suspending their accounts so as not to burn their retinas with the unkind opinions about their adulterous behavior and uber-tacky comments such as Charles telling her he wished to be a feminine product, so he could be close to her. Ew, just major ew.

Some Critics Say This Season Of The Crown Is The Worst Season But Also The Most Popular

The royal family are outraged that Netflix is airing such filth, albeit true filth, and are thought to be demanding that the show carry a disclaimer that the show is fictionalized even though Charles really did utter that incredibly gross comment about Camilla.

UK culture secretary Oliver Dowden said in an interview with The Mail on Sunday that he feared, “a generation of viewers who did not live through these events may mistake fiction for fact.”

In response a Netflix spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter, “We have always presented The Crown as a drama, and we have every confidence our members understand it’s a work of fiction that’s broadly based on historical events. As a result we have no plans—and see no need—to add a disclaimer.”

Last month “palace sources” told the Daily Mail it is irresponsible for Netflix not to warn viewers that historical events had been dramatized.

One insider said, “The new series paints the Prince and Duchess in a very unflattering light but at least at the start of reality shows like The Only Way Is Essex they admit that some scenes have been invented for entertainment.”

Another source spilled, “The Duke of Cambridge is none too pleased with it. He feels that both his parents are being exploited and being presented in a false, simplistic way to make money.”

Charles is a douche. Or a tampon. He could have been referring to either.
