Royal Family News: Prince Andrew Sold The Queen’s House For A Shocking Amount

Prince Andrew British royal family news reveals that Prince Andrew, Duke of York is in the headlines again, and that’s not good. Andrew is basically mothballed due to conduct unbecoming to the crown and this latest dish isn’t going to get him out of the doghouse.

What’s his latest scandal? It involves a rundown house he sold for millions of dollars above the asking price. That alone sends up red flags. But wait, there’s more!

Prince Andrew Is Making Headlines

Kazakh energy tycoon Timur Kulibayev bought Prince Andrew’s home in 2007 for $21 million, $4 million above the asking price. At the time it was reported that the inflated payment was an attempt to win influence with the British elite by Kulibayev.

Andrew claimed his business savvy was at work not influence peddling.

The house was gifted to Andrew as a wedding present from the queen. Kulibayev tore down the house in 2015. The Daily Mail has just published pics of the new mansion which has, “six en-suite bedrooms… sweeping glass balconies, towering French doors, and [an 80ft] swimming pool… On the ground floor, there is a gym with steam, ice and sauna rooms, a games room, library, and guest bedroom.”

According to Forbes the new owner and his wife are worth $3 billion each. His wife and business partner Dinara is the daughter of Nursaltan Nazarbayev the former president of Kazakhstan.

In 2020 the Financial Times published an investigation which claimed that Kulibayev benefited from a multi-billion-dollar pipeline project across Central Asia and China. Andrew’s links to Kulibayev are numerous.

What Did Prince Andrew Do With His House?

Kulibayev denied the allegations which the FT described as, “Kulibayev oversaw state contracts awarded to the Russian pipeline group ETK, it appears that ETK’s owner Alexander Karmanov agreed to an arrangement to divert part of the company’s profits to Mr Kulibayev. Mr Kulibayev’s lawyers say no such scheme existed.”

In 2016 the Daily Mail published evidence suggesting that Andrew attempted to use his relationships with the Kazakh elite for financial gain. Apparently, at one point Andrew stood to make $5 million by helping a Greek company secure a multi-million dollar contract in Kazakhstan.

In recent years Andrew has fallen from the ryal stage due to his various behaviors deemed unseemly for the monarchy. He is no longer a working member of the royal family and as such lost his taxpayer funding, his Buckingham Palace office, and his royal patronages.
