Royal Family News: Prince Charles To Formally Step Into Prince Philip’s Role Next To Queen Elizabeth

British royal family news reveals that Prince Charles is projected to now step into the role left following his father Prince Philip’s death.

Prince Philip died and was laid to rest earlier this month and the family has ended its official mourning period. Following the death and funeral, Charles went alone to his Wales home reportedly to reflect and spend time gathering his thoughts.

The Sun reports that the Charles, Prince of Wales, is now the one who will take over Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh’s traditional role as royal consort. This means he will be by his mother Queen Elizabeth’s side during the State Opening of Parliament.

Philip retired from royal duties in 2016. Since then Charles has accompanied Her Majesty to Parliament’s opening, but henceforth he will do so as the royal consort.

Royal Family News – Prince Charles is Taking Over for Prince Philip

According to the source, Charles is now expected to take, “a more significant and active role.”

In addition, the move also signals the queen’s intentions in terms of succession. While many have speculated that she would skip over Charles and instead make his son Prince William king, this latest role seems to nix that idea.

The insider said, “It is a clear signal that the Queen does not want the crown to skip a generation and that Prince Charles will start taking on an even bigger role in royal life.”

“There will be a visible show of support for the Queen from senior members of the family at future events, and the opening of Parliament is no exception,” they added.

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Passed Away In April

It is a particularly turbulent time for the royal family, with Philip’s death the latest in a series of difficult events.
