Royal Family News: Prince Charles Told Off: “Shut Up” On Rwanda Migrant Policy

Royal Family News: Prince Charles Told Off: “Shut Up” On Rwanda Migrant PolicyBritish royal family news reveals that traditionally members of the monarchy do not get involved in political affairs, not even to express an opinion about them. Prince Charles just spoke out about a deal made by Home Secretary Priti Patel in April, in which migrants who come to the UK illegally face being deported to Rwanda.

Reports are that Charles called this method “appalling” in private and said he is against it. Later this month the future heir to the throne will represent his mother Queen Elizabeth at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

Now royal experts fear a firestorm of controversy will greet him. Charles is not bound by the same rules as the reigning monarch and is not required to act on the advice of ministers.

Vernon Bogdanor is a professor of government at King’s College and he told the Times, “The only constraint is that he must not say anything which would embarrass the Queen.”

Royal Family News – Charles Is Talking Out

A royal source told the Times, “He said he was more than disappointed at the policy. He said he thinks the Government’s whole approach is appalling. It was clear he was not impressed with the government’s direction of travel.”

The news comes on the heels of the queen’s Platinum Jubilee an epic and very successful event. Even Harry and Meghan’s misbehavior was kept to a minimum. No doubt Charles’ rumored political comments casts a shadow over the afterglow.

Royal Family News – The Platinum Jubilee Was a Success

Politicians were quick to respond to Charles’ supposed comment. Brexiteer Nile Gardiner tweeted: “Prince Charles sending completely wrong message on Rwanda migrant plan, which will act as a strong deterrent to illegal migration from France, which is overwhelmingly economic migration. Also wrong approach for a senior royal to comment on Government policy.”

Nigel Farage echoed those sentiments tweeting, “Unless Prince Charles wants to destroy the monarchy he had better shut up fast.”

In response, Clarence House, “didn’t deny the Prince’s opposition to the policy, they insisted he was not trying to influence the Government.”

A spokesman stated, “We would not comment on supposed anonymous private conversations with the Prince of Wales, except to restate that he remains politically neutral. Matters of policy are decisions for Government.”
