Royal Family News: Prince George Forbidden to Eat With The Queen At Christmas LunchBritish royal family news divulges that the holiday season is in full swing. As December wends on, the celebrations ramp up and family and friends gather to make merry. This year was supposed to be the year we all got back to traditions and celebrations but it increasingly is looking like 2021 will be a repeat of 2020 where coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions are concerned.

The UK is quickly cinching down the freedoms enjoyed after what was thought to be the worst of the covid pandemic was in the rear view mirror.

The lockdown cautions are being felt by families everywhere, even the royal family. This week it was announced that the British royals have cancelled their annual Christmas Lunch. The queen typically hosts around 50 family members, this year it was to be at Windsor Castle. But this week it was announced that the Lunch was cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

Royal Family News: The Queen Cancelled a Family Event

Hopes were high that the worst of the pandemic was behind us. But recent days have shown that hope was too quickly counted on. Now there is an Omicron variant that is growing by leaps and bounds, crossing national boundaries and wrecking havoc in people’s lives.

Britain reported nearly 79,000 new cases of the virus in one day earlier this week. Life cannot go on as usual with statistics like this. The government has issued cautions and Queen Elizabeth took the recommendations seriously, to the point that she called off her annual festive pre-Christmas Lunch.

Interestingly the event would not be the same as in years past. For starters, it was to be at Windsor Castle instead of Buckingham Palace. It would also be the family’s first Lunch without its patriarch, Prince Philip who died in April. Nonetheless, there would be one tradition enforced. It has to do with Prince George who is third in line to the throne.

Royal Family News: Prince George is an Heir

The tradition calls for the boy to not be seated next to the queen or any other adults. But he’s not being ostracized or punished! Instead, the royals observe a familiar rule that families across the globe institute—the children’s table.

The children in the royal family have their own table for Christmas lunch, just like generations of kids past.

Mike Tindall, husband of Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, spilled the dish on his podcast “The Good, The Bad and the Rugby.” According to him, the kids even have their own room within which to break out the food fights.

“This is the family lunch, there were seven tables so there must have been about 70 of us there,” he said. “The kiddies have their own little one in a different room.”
