A source close to the King Charles said of the royal runaways, “they are unlikely to attend,” despite the belief that the new monarch invited Meghan and Harry and their two children.

There is no doubt that on Charles’ end the little fam are “much loved” members of the family but the sentiment has not been echoed by the Markles who defected nearly three years ago.

Royal Family News – The Markles Stay Home

Sandringham has been the royal family gathering place for Christmas and New Year since 1988, with just a few exceptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year the traditional family gathering will take place at Sandringham, for the first time in decades without Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

How is the nonattendance by the Markles being taken? According to the Daily Mail, sources report that, “There will be those within the Royal Family who may breathe a sigh of relief if the Sussexes send their regrets. After Meghan described the late Queen’s funeral as ‘complicated’, the Sussexes’ presence over the mince pies may not go down well.”

Royal Family News – Harry’s Bombshell Memoir

Harry’s bombshell memoir is set to debut in January and what some are calling a ‘Keeping Up With the Markles’ reality show is also due in the New Year. Neither product is expected to shine a warm light on the monarchy, with Harry’s book title, Spare, being taken as a “loaded” reference to his role as the second banana to his brother and future king Prince William.

It’s been reported that, “Family members were not informed of the title in advance of the announcement, while the Spanish language version is even more pointed, having been given the subtitle En La Sombra, or ‘in the shadow.’” Pass the eggnog everyone!
