Royal Family News: Prince Harry Blasts Royals For Withholding Phone Hacking Info

The Duke of Sussex is not in the mood to paint words, he’s saying it as it is for him. Gone are the days when he would seal his lips to prevent certain things from coming to light.

On Monday, March 27, Prince Harry showed up at High Court, England with other prominent individuals to testify over the lawsuit filed against Associated Newspapers (ANL) publisher of British tabloids “Daily Mail” and “Mail on Sunday.”

Besides Prince Harry, Elton John and his husband David Furnish, Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost, and Baroness Doreen Lawrence of Clarendon also filed lawsuits against the tabloid.

The lawsuits allege that Associated Newspapers bugged their homes, cars, and even hacked their phones, just to listen to private conversations about them and release to the public.

He went on to say that for “12 years” he kept mute about the unauthorized private information constantly released to the public because, “as a member of the Institution the policy was to ‘never complain, never explain.'”

He added, “There was no alternative; I was conditioned to accept it. For the most part, I accepted the interest in my performing my public functions.”

He shared that while he was still dating his wife Meghan Markle, he felt “increasingly troubled by the approach of not taking action against the press in the wake of vicious persistent attacks on, harassment of and intrusive, sometimes racist articles concerning Meghan.” Harry said that the situation worsened in 2018 during Meghan’s pregnancy with their first child Prince Archie.

The Duke went on to share that the palace hoarded information about the phone hacking from him to prevent him from taking any legal steps against News Group Newspapers (NGN). He finally found out that he stands a chance in court years later.

Harry said, “The Institution was without a doubt withholding information from me for a long time about NGN’s phone hacking and that has only become clear in recent years as I have pursued my own claim with different legal advice and representation.”

He went on to say, “It is not an exaggeration to say that the bubble burst in terms of what I knew in 2020 when I moved out of the United Kingdom.”
